While the concept of orange wine may seem like a current trend, it actually goes back a few thousand years to the Republic of Georgia. The producers at DOREMI are making wine in the ancient way using qvevri (large clay pots buried in the earth). This wine sees a significant amount of skin contact and takes some time to open up in the glass.
Mtsvane is a very old indigenous variety from the Kakheti region in south-eastern Georgia. A dynamic array of aromas and flavors come with this wine, starting with honeysuckle and white flowers. As the wine opens up you'll find deep secrets of dried fruit and nuts as well as a little smoky quality. This is a wine to really spend some time with. I'd say crack open the bottle, put on Kubrick's Barry Lyndon and just work your way through, savoring the slow rich detail and human touch of both film and wine.
