This little wine region of Bierzo is filled with rocky hills that make tending to vines and the picking of grapes a challenging process, requiring much physical dedication by the winemaking team. Husband and wife team Jose Antonio Garcia and Julia Peña Garcia tend to vineyards here that stretch back over 100 years. Their commitment to letting the earth do the work in growing the grapes leads to wines that express the land and all that it holds.
The Doña Blanca varietal really leaps out of the glass with aromas of orange blossom and peach fruit. Aged in stainless steel on the lees for 8 months, this wine has some density with a satin-smooth texture. A bit of minerality from the Godello gives this wine some concentration and focus. Vines between 60-100 years old also tend to give wonderfully intense fruit.
