Chartreuse The Liqueur

Title: Chartreuse the Liqueur
Author: Martine Galiano
Publisher: Chartreuse
Referring both to a mountain range, a religious order and a liqueur, the word "Chartreuse" also describes a colour, Chartreuse green. One could almost get confused as to which came out first, the colour or the liqueur? This is at least one point of which we can be sure: Chartreuse green comes from the liqueur. The liqueur itself gets its name from the Order of the Carthusians, or "Chartreux" in French, which in turn gets its name from the place where Bruno and his companions, guided by Hugues, bishop of Grenoble, decided to settle down in 1084.
