Times Atlas of World History

Most historical atlases of an earlier generation were marked by their 'Eurocentricity', that is to say by their tendency to concentrate on the history of Europe (particularly western Europe) and to refer to other regions or countries only when and where Europe impinged upon them. In the new Times Atlas we have broken away from this traditional western view because we believe such an approach is misleading and untenable. Our aim has been to present a view of history which is world-wide in conception and presentation and which does justice, without prejudice or favour, to the achievements of all peopls in all ages and in all quarters of the globe.
